- Keystrokes per hour (KSPH / KDPH) = characters ÷ minutes × 60
- Exam net WPM = (typed words − wrong words) ÷ minutes, where a word with any wrong character is one wrong word

WPM calculator FAQ
Why is 5 characters one word?
Words have different lengths, so typing tests use a fixed standard: five characters, including spaces and punctuation, equal one word. It makes results comparable between texts.
What is the difference between gross and net WPM?
Gross WPM counts everything you typed. Net WPM subtracts mistakes, so it shows your useful speed. Employers and exams normally use net speed.
How do I convert WPM to KSPH?
Multiply WPM by 5 (characters per word) and by 60 (minutes per hour). For example, 30 WPM x 5 x 60 = 9,000 keystrokes per hour.
Does this work for Hindi typing?
Yes. Count characters or words the same way your exam does and enter them. Always check how your exam defines a word and a mistake.
