What the SSC typing test usually asks
For several SSC posts the commonly quoted requirement is about 35 words per minute in English or 30 in Hindi, which official notices convert into key depressions per hour (35 WPM = 10,500 KDPH, 30 WPM = 9,000 KDPH). Data-entry style posts are often described in key depressions per hour as well, for example 8,000 KDPH.
Rules change between exams, posts and years. Always check the speed, duration, language and keyboard layout in your official notification before relying on any practice tool.
How the scoring works
- Key depression: every key you press. 5 key depressions count as 1 word.
- Gross speed = typed words per minute.
- A word with even one wrong character is counted as a full mistake in most exam rules.
- Net speed = (typed words - wrong words) per minute.
- Use the keyboard converter: WPM x 5 x 60 = key depressions per hour.
4-week preparation plan
- Week 1: finish the touch-typing lessons and reach 95% accuracy.
- Week 2: 5-minute tests daily; fix weak keys with Smart Practice.
- Week 3: one 10-minute exam-mode test every day, backspace off.
- Week 4: two full tests per day at the same time of day as your exam slot.

Rules differ by post and year. We practise with backspace off because many exams are strict; check your notification.
Does this site have the Kruti Dev or Remington layout for Hindi?
Not yet. Our Hindi typing uses the Unicode Inscript layout. If your exam uses another layout, practise English here and use a layout-specific tool for Hindi.
