Speed in keystrokes per hour

Data-entry jobs often quote speed in keystrokes (or key depressions) per hour, KSPH or KDPH. Convert from WPM: WPM x 5 x 60. For example 30 WPM is 9,000 per hour, 40 WPM is 12,000 and 50 WPM is 15,000.

Employers also measure accuracy; 98-99% is a common expectation for professional work. Check the requirement in your job post.

Practice routine

  • Alternate 5-minute numbers tests with sentence tests.
  • Use Smart Practice -> Numbers to drill digits.
  • Try the top-row digits first; use the numeric keypad only if your job needs it.
  • Aim for 98% accuracy at a slower pace, then raise speed.
