Why numbers feel slow

The number row is a long reach for the fingers, and most typing practice is letters only. A few focused sessions on digits can add a lot of speed for accounting, data entry, exams with numeric sections and programming.

Finger map for the number row

  • 1 and Q-A-Z: left little finger. 2: left ring. 3: left middle. 4 and 5: left index.
  • 6 and 7: right index. 8: right middle. 9: right ring. 0: right little.
  • Return to the home row after every digit.
  • Use the Lessons -> Number row stage for guided practice with a coloured keyboard.
