How the test is evaluated

UPSSSC changes details between recruitments (and the test is qualifying). Read the typing test notice published for your cycle on upsssc.gov.in.

  • Speed is the net speed after errors are accounted for.
  • The "5 errors allowed, then 5 words per error" rule comes from one third-party source - confirm it in the notice.
  • With only 5 minutes, one bad start costs a lot: warm up on a 30 second test before you begin.

Hindi typing, fonts and layouts

The Hindi typing test on this site has Inscript, Remington GAIL and Kruti Dev 010 built in. Check which layout your board names in the notification and choose the same one under "Hindi keyboard"; see our guide Inscript vs Remington vs Kruti Dev. For exam-style practice use the Hindi typing exam practice.

  • One source says candidates may type Hindi in Mangal (Inscript layout) or Kruti Dev 010 (typewriter/Remington layout).
  • This site practises Unicode Inscript for Hindi; for Kruti Dev / Remington use a tool that supports it.

How to prepare for the UPSSSC typing test

  1. Learn the keys with the lessons, then reach 30 WPM in English.
  2. Daily: a 5 minute typing test plus a strict run on this page.
  3. Count your mistakes: keep them under 5 per run so that no penalty applies.
  4. Practise Hindi on the 5 minute Hindi typing test.

What this practice page does and does not do

  • It runs a strict 5-minute test with backspace switched off, like most government typing tests.
  • The result shows key depressions, wrong words, gross and net speed and checks your net speed against the 30 WPM target used for this page.
  • It is an independent practice tool. The real exam software, passage, font and error rules are the board's own.
  • Typing text is built from general English sentences, not from past papers.
